SG Consumer FMCG supply chain and logistics services in South Africa

Client overview

SG Consumer delivers end-to-end, tech-enabled supply chain solutions across South Africa — warehousing, primary and secondary distribution, inventory planning and debtors administration for FMCG and pharmaceutical manufacturers. The operation runs at genuine national scale: depots in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein and Gqeberha, 80,000 m² of warehousing, 46 million cases delivered a year and more than 3,500 delivery points nationwide.

It had no website of its own. As a division of Super Group, SG Consumer’s entire digital presence was a section of the parent group’s corporate site — accurate, but shared with every other division and written for investors rather than for the manufacturers SG Consumer actually wants to win. They came to TDA wanting their own address, and the room to stand out.

The challenge

Being part of a large listed group is a credibility asset. It is also a visibility problem. SG Consumer sat inside a corporate structure that covered supply chain, dealerships, fleet and mobility across twelve countries — and inside that structure, one of the country’s significant FMCG logistics operators was a paragraph on a divisional page.

The practical consequence was simple. When a manufacturer went looking for a supply chain partner, there was nothing to find and nowhere to send them. No link that represented the business, no place where the scale, the certifications or the capability set were laid out on SG Consumer’s own terms.

Major issues included:

Our Disruptive strategy

The brief was a landing page. The actual job was positioning: give SG Consumer a presence that stands on its own without cutting it loose from the credibility of the group behind it. We built one page that a procurement decision-maker can read top to bottom and walk away knowing exactly what SG Consumer does, at what scale, and to what standard.

What we did

  • Positioned SG Consumer as a partner rather than a division — its own identity and its own voice, while staying visually and tonally consistent with the credibility of the wider group.
  • Structured the whole story as a single scroll, with anchored sections for About, Capabilities, ESG and Contact, so a decision-maker gets the complete picture without hunting through a navigation tree.
  • Led with proof rather than promises. The numbers that matter to a manufacturer — 46 million cases a year, 80,000 m² of warehousing, 3,500+ delivery points — are placed where they cannot be missed.
  • Put compliance credentials high on the page. ISO, SAHPRA and food safety certification is the first filter for any pharmaceutical or food manufacturer, so we treated it as a headline, not a footnote.
  • Built the capability set into a clear six-part grid — warehousing, distribution, inventory planning, transport planning and scheduling, supply chain visibility, and debtors administration — each stated in one line.
  • Wrote all copy for a B2B procurement audience: specific, direct, no filler. This is a reader who is comparing operators, not browsing.
  • Built a dual call-to-action to match two mindsets — “Explore Our Capabilities” for the researching visitor and “Let’s Talk” for the ready one, with the enquiry route pinned in the navigation throughout.
  • Designed and built mobile-friendly with an SEO-optimised structure, and kept the build extensible so the page can grow into a fuller site as the business needs it.

Results

SG Consumer now has a digital front door that belongs to the business.
  • • One link that represents the operation — something the sales team can send to a prospective manufacturer without routing them through a group corporate site.
  • • Scale is visible immediately. The footprint, volume and delivery reach that took decades to build are now legible in a single screen.
  • • A direct enquiry route exists for the first time, with contact CTAs carried through the page rather than buried at the bottom.
    • Compliance credentials sit up front, which is what an FMCG or pharmaceutical buyer screens for before anything else.
  • • The business reads as distinct from the parent group while still benefiting from its credibility — its own voice, not a competing one.
  • • The build is a foundation, not a dead end. The structure supports expansion into a fuller site as the business needs it.

The New Site

One page, one scroll, one clear route to an enquiry — built around proof, compliance and capability.

The TDA Difference

We didn’t just build a landing page — we gave a division its own front door.

What made this different:

  • We treated a one-pager as a positioning exercise. With one page, every decision about what goes on it is a decision about what the business stands for.
  • We led with proof. In logistics, scale and compliance are the argument — so the numbers and the certifications carry the page, not adjectives.
  • We wrote for the actual buyer: a procurement decision-maker comparing operators, not a general audience browsing.
  • We kept the group relationship working in the client’s favour — distinct enough to stand alone, consistent enough to inherit the trust.
  • We built it to extend. The page is a foundation for a fuller site, not a one-off asset that has to be thrown away later.
